718,403. Flexible tubes. KOPEX-MASCHINEN AKT.-GES. June 12, 1952 [July 11, 1951], No. 14821/52. Class 99 (2). A tube 1 made by helically winding strip material on to a mandrel has at least one continuous, helical groove 2, the side walls of which are brought into contact by internal or external axial pressure, e.g. pressure applied by means of rotating, screw-threaded rolls. Plain wall portions of the tube are disposed between the turns of the groove. Ribs 2a may be formed on the internal surface of the tube, or the tube may have two adjacent, internal grooves and corresponding external ribs. The tube may be of steel, iron, aluminium, copper, impregnated or non- impregnated textiles, gutta-percha or paper, or a combination of these materials. The tube may have an inner or outer coating of synthetic resin such as polyvinyl chloride.
