Abstract
717,694. Sifting apparatus. PERRY, T. J. Oct. 8, 1952 [Oct. 8, 1951], No. 23380/51. Class 117 [ALso in Group XXX] In jigging :apparatus for conveying and sifting grain a light-weight trough 10, Fig. 1, is supported by saddle members 13, Fig. 5, attached to spindles 14 which project on each side thereof and engage bearings 20 secured to the lower ends of resilient leaves 18. These leaves are made preferably of synthetic resin impregnated ash wood and are suspended from brackets 16. The trough is connected by a link 29 to a pivoted slotted lever 26, Fig. 4, which is engaged by a ball race 32 mounted eccentrically on a rotary disc 21. The direction of conveying is reversed by attaching the link to the trough at the point 34 and reversing the direction of rotation of the disc. An open-topped casing 36 containing inclined screens 38, 39 of different meshes is mounted on the trough. Grain passes through these screens on to a fine mesh screen 42 forming the floor of the trough. Dust passes through the screen 42 into a casing 43 from which it is discharged through a shoot 44. Large size undesirable material is removed by the screen 38 and discharged through a shoot 40 while smaller particles of similar material are separated by the screen 39 and discharged by the shoot 41.
