Abstract
717,272. Heat-exchangers. AIR PREHEATER CORPORATION. May 1, 1952 [May 22, 1951], No. 10988/52. Classes 64(1) and 64(3) An assembly for use in either a recuperative or regenerative heat-exchanger comprises superimposed rows of inverted T-members 10 together forming heatexchanger fluid passages, with the lateral flanges 14 of contiguous members in one row joined together and to the stem 16 of a member in an adjacent row by welding. The T-members may have their lateral flanges disposed either at an acute angle to the stem, Fig. 3, or normal thereto, Fig. 1. When used as a recuperator, Fig. 1, alternating air and gas passages 27, 28 are formed by the rows of members and the upright stems 16 of individual T-members constitute longitudinal fins in one or other of the fluid passages.
