Abstract
716,049. Reciprocating machines. WEYANDT, C. S. Dec. 14, 1951 [April 25, 1951]. No. 29309/51. Class 35 A vibratory motor has a frame so supported on a base that it reciprocates as a free body in a confined inclined arcuate path of movement about the central axis when armatures, which are attached to the frame, vibrate within a magnetic field produced by field coils energized by a pulsating D.S. or A.C. or half-wave rectified current. The vibratory motor includes a base 1 and a vibratory frame 10 supported by inclined leaf springs 11 so that the frame can reciprocate in a restricted inclined arcuate path, and permanent magnet armatures 6a, 6b which are arranged to be attracted and repelled on alternate half-cycles of the current supplied to field members 5, 5'. Rectifiers may be used as when the field coils are in parallel, as in Fig. 4 (not shown). Fig. 5 shows two separate field systems having coils 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, 40, 40<SP>1</SP> which are so connected and fed through rectifiers 35<SP>1</SP>, 37, 38, 38' that the armatures 6, 6<SP>1</SP> are acted upon in one direction by the flux when the coils 4, 40 are energized simultaneously and in the opposite direction upon the next half-cycle when the coils 4<SP>1</SP>, 40<SP>1</SP> are energized.
