Abstract
715,952. Aerating sewage. FISCHERSTROM, N. C. H., and GULLSTROM, I. S. June 4, 1951, No. 13170/51. Class 111 An apparatus for aerating sewage consists of a container 1 divided by a vertical partition 5 which is spaced from the bottom of the container into two compartments 6 and 7 of substantially equal area. A number of horizontal, perforated pipes 14 of pearlike cross section are arranged near the top of compartment 6 and connected to an air supply pipe 15. In operation, the container is filled with sewage through an inlet 10 to a level 13. Air is passed into the sewage from pipes 14 causing it to circulate in a body around the partition, the continuous admission of untreated sewage causing it to progress in a spiral path towards an outlet at the opposite end of the container.
