Abstract
715,944. Junction boxes. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1951, [Nov. 30, 1950.] No. 29310/50. Class 38(1). A junction box having an opening in the base adapted to register with an opening in a cable duct to which the box is secured whereby leads from the duct may be brought out through the box in angularly spaced directions, comprises a pair of U-shape clamping members 18 situated around the opening 12 in the box base 11 so that tightening of the screws 24 clamps the box 10 to the peripheral portion 23 of the opening in the upper wall of the cable duct 15. The leads are brought out through conduits 14. Earthing continuity between the box 10 and cable duct 15 is ensured by a pointed screw 26; alternatively, the box base i may be formed with an integral projecting stud. The box cover comprises an outer annular part 30 supporting an inner part 33, the part 30 having a channel 31 receiving the side wall of the box and adjustable relatively thereto by the heads of screws 34. threaded in bosses 35 on the base 11. The cover parts 30, 33 are arranged to be flush with a concrete floor 38, the concrete retaining the part 30 in position. The cavity in the part 33 is also filled with concrete 37. The cover part 33 is releasably secured to the box 10 by screws 39 passing freely through apertures in the parts 30, 33 and engaging tapped bosses 41 on the base 11. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) the cover part 30 lies wholly beneath the floor surface, the outer wall of the inner part 33 extending above the part 30 and being flush with the floor.
