Abstract
715,682. Refrigerating. KRAMER TRENTON CO. Oct. 12, 1950, No. 24948/50. Class 29 Means for defrosting an evaporator 9 in a refrigerating chamber 10 by hot gas direct from the compressor 1 includes a second evaporator 16 intermittently connected in series between the outlet 14 of the evaporator 9 and the inlet of the compressor by a pipe 15 with pressure reducing means 19. A hot gas line 23 connects the compressor 1 directly with the first evaporator 9 and has a valve 24 which is open during defrosting. A valve 18 in the suction line 14 is closed during defrosting so that liqnid refrigerant condensed in the evaporator 9 is led through the pipe 15 and expansion valve 19 to the second evaporator 16 over which air is forced by a fan 26 so that no liquid refrigerant is returned to the compressor. A fan 12 forces air over the evaporator 9 during normal working; this fan is stopped and the fan 26 started when defrosting. The valves 24, 18 and the fan motors are controlled by a timing device 28. A pressure actuated switch 40 is provided for starting and stopping the compressor during normal working.
