Abstract

715,613. Drying by displacement of water by other fluids. WACKER GES. FUR ELEKTROCHEMISCHE INDUSTRIE, GES., DR. A. March 8, 1951 [Dec. 11, 1950], No. 5665/51. Class 34(2) Metal articles &c. wet with water are dried by immersion in a water-free boiling solution of a small quantity of a mersolate in a chlorinated hydrocarbon such as perchlorethylene or trichlorethylene until the water has been expelled by azeotropic distillation, drying being completed by removal from the solution and evaporation of remaining solvent. The upper part of the treating vessel may be cooled, the condensate being separately collected and after passing through a water separator returned to the vessel. Specification 470,558 is referred to.
