Class 35 The residual voltage at zero speed of an induction type tachometer generator is reduced or eliminated by an adjustably magnetic member adjacent. to the overhang of the windings. The generator stator 17, which is mounted in the same frame as the stator of the driving motor 7, carries the A.C. fed exciting winding and the output winding connected to leads 22, 23 respectively. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a magnetic rod 39 projects from the end cover 31 to a position inside the windings and close to the air-gap. The end cover is rotatable and is locked in position after adjustment for zero stationary voltage by a spring-ring 35. In modification, a plurality of rods corresponding to the number of poles are used. In a further modification the rod or rods 39 are replaced by a rotatable tube, Fig. 5, having cut-out portions 45 corresponding to the number of poles, and a slotted flange 51 by which it is locked by screws after adjustment. The axial position of the rotor may be adjusted by means of bearing shims to produce a further reduction of stand-still voltage.
