Class 17(1) A heel-seat fitting machine as described in Specification 525,815 is modified so that fillets 114, Fig. 6, are formed between spaced shoulders 112 of the sole 102 and a tab 108 formed at the heel part. Matrix plates 120, 120<1>, 122, 122<1>, bulging device members 172, 172'-178, 178' and a counter gauge 202, Figs. 1, 2, are all constructed as in that Specification. The machine will be described in relation to the parts on the left side of the centre line, the said parts being repeated symetrically on the other side but bearing the numerals with a suffix <1> in the drawings of the Specification. A matrix plate 124 is attached to a slideway member 130 which is angularly adjustable on a sector 134 and has operative edges 138, 142 forming a splayed end to the U- shaped opening 118 of the matrix plates, up to the corner 136. A side knife 146 attached to a slide 165 in the slideway 130 has cutting edges 150, 152,. Fig. 7, the former passing close to the front edge of the member 124 cuts shoulders 112, Fig. 6, while the latter passing under said members forms fillets 114. A member 166, Figs. 1, 3, attached to a vertical slide 164 of the bulging members 172-178 has an extension 170 forming a front work-engaging member which is cut away at 200 to provide clearance for the knife 146. A block 186 with a shaped rubber block 188 has a stem 184 vertically movable against a spring 196 in the member 166 and forms a front clamping member of a device including four rear members constructed as in Specification 525,815. An arm 190, 192 engages in a bore 194 of a block on the plate 124 so that the block 186 is always angularly adjusted with the slideway member 130. A modified form of the block 186 is also described. The operative cycle of the machine is the same as described in Specification 525,815 except that all ten bulging members and all six clamping members engage the work while the cutting operations take place.
