Abstract

713,079. Endless conveyers. STACEY, H. T. May 8, 1952 [May 8, 1951], No. 10783/51. Class 78 (1) A conveyer for grain, grass, hay or the like comprises an endless chain 3 with flights 10 extending around sprockets 1 mounted at the ends of a box 4 .having an inlet 11 and an outlet 12. The box is closed at its ends by wooden cap-like members 9 which are detachable to enable the box to be cleared easily. Additional inlets and outlets may be provided closed by panels which can be removed to bring these inlets and outlets into use. The top run of the chain is supported by steel tubes 13 carried by bolts 14 bridging the side walls 6, 7 of the box. The top of the box may be removable and the members 9 may each comprise a bottom and a top section so that one section may be removed to facilitate cleaning of a run without disturbing the chain mounting. The flights 10 may each be secured to the chain by a pair of links 10a secured to the lower edge of the flight as in Fig. 2 or to a sideface of a flight as in Fig. 6 (not shown). The spindle 2 is supported at each end in a bearing block 8c slidably mounted on a bracket 19, the position of the block being adjusted for tensioning the chain 3 by rotating a nut 17 engaging a spindle 18.
