712,564. Coating paper. COMBINED LOCKS PAPER CO. June 26, 1952, No. 16108/52. Classes 96 and 140 A paper web 10 passes about a hard-surfaced roll 12 against which it is pressed by two softsurfaced rolls 14 and 16, a coating mixture being applied, at each nip, from a trough 18 via a metering roll 20, transfer roll 22, heterogeneous pattern rolll 24 and reversely-driven roll 26. For washable wall-papers, the roll 14 may apply the coating mixture via the rolls &c. shown in dotted lines, the roll 12 a starch paste, and the roll 16 formaldehyde &c. The nips of the rolls 12, 14 may subtend an angle, e.g. of 90 or 180 degrees with the centre of the roll 12.
