Abstract
712,341. Colostomy appliances. GAILLARD, S. Dec. 12, 1952 [Dec. 7, 1951], No. 28788/51. Class 81(2) A colostomy receiver comprises a flat tube 1 of flexible, waterproof synthetic material, such as polythene, the lower end 2 of which is heat sealed, while at the upper end of one side there is a circular hole 4 which is suitably reinforced by an additional sheet of material 5. The latter may be of the same material as the bag but is preferably of adhesive plaster. When in use, the upper end is folded over or may be closed by a clip. In an alternative form the lower end is only partially sealed, so as to provide an emptying spout.
