Abstract

712,261. Augers. PETERSEN, G. A. M. Dec. 10, 1951, No. 28859/51. Class 85. The pilot bit 2 of an auger has two groups of cutters 9, 9a, 9b that extend approximately tangentially to their arcs of travel and are radially and vertically offset with respect to one another. The cutting edges of the cutters of one group are staggered with respect to the cutting edges of the cutters of the other group, so that the paths of travel of the edges of one group are alternatively disposed with respect to the paths of travel of the other edges. The cutters are secured on projections 8 formed on plates 6 that are attached to the lower portions of the helical blades 3. 4 of the auger.
