711,453. Making aluminium sheets. SOC. ANON. POUR L'INDUSTRIE DE L'ALUMINIUM. Sept. 25, 1952 [Sept. 26, 1951], No. 24078/52. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4) Working at specified temperatures.-Aluminium sheets which produce only slight ear-formation when worked to form hollow bodies, are made from continuously cast ingots by heating them to a temperature of 350‹-440‹ C., hot rolling them from this initial temperature down to a temperature of 250‹-310‹ C., allowing the ingots to cool, cold rolling down to a thickness of 1 mm. or less and finally soft annealing the sheets. In an example, an aluminium ingot having a cross section of 600 X 150 mm. was rolled to a width of 1 metre and a thickness of 6.7 mm. from an initial temperature of 420‹ C. and allowed to cool. The sheet was then cold rolled to a thickness of 0.5 mm. and soft annealed at 400‹ C.
