Abstract
711,116. Valve amplifying circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 18, 1952 [Aug. 21, 1951], No. 20704/52. Class 40 (6) In an amplifier circuit wherein negative feedback is taken from the cathode circuit of the final valve of an amplifier chain and is applied to an earlier valve in the chain, the effect of high-frequency currents flowing through the gridcathode capacitance of the final valve is neutralized by means of a circuit connected between the anode of the preceding valve and earth and comprising an impedance in series with an inductance, the inductance being tightly coupled to a further inductance in the cathode circuit of the final valve. In the circuit shown, a voltage et is taken from the cathode circuit of the valve 2 and is applied as negative feedback to one of the preceding valves. Due to the grid-cathode capacitance of the valve 2 (shown as element 5) the feedback potential developed does not correspond exactly with that developed across the resistor 3 in the anode circuit of the valve. To compensate for this components 8, 9 and 11 are connected in series with an inductance 6, the inductance 6 being coupled to an inductance 7 in the cathode circuit of the valve 2. The inductance 6 comprises more turns than the inductance 7 the turns-ratio n being preferably of the order of 2 to 4. The component 8 is a condenser whose capacity is 1/n times that of the interelectrode capacitance 5, the component 9 is a resistor having n-times the resistance of the resistor 10 in the cathode circuit of the valve 2 and the component 11 is a resistor designed to damp any resonance produced by the stray inductance of the coupled coils 6 and 7.
