Abstract
710,902. Arc welding electrode holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PICKERING, I. J. Jan. 7, 1953 [Jan. 24, 1952], No. 1998/52. Addition to 685,476. Class 39 (3) The welding electrode holder described in the parent Specification is modified in that provision is made for the angular adjustment of at least one of the surfaces adapted to engage the bared end of one of the electrodes of a double welding electrode, the angle between the holder and an electrode held in the holder thus being variable. An arm 10 has at one end a handle 11 and at the other end are flanges 12 carrying a pivot 13 on which fulcrums a lever 14. A block 20, secured at one end of the lever 14, has two circumferential V- shaped notches 21, 22 of different depths positioned side by side, and coacts with a block 32 having two parallel V-shaped grooves 33. The block 32 is adjustably clamped to flanges 31 formed on an arm 25 secured to but electrically insulated from the arm 10. Adjustment of block 32 permits the angle which an electrode makes with the holder to be varied, e.g. from 90 degrees-120 degrees.
