Abstract

A method of recovering lead from sulphidic ores or concentrates comprises mixing sulphidic lead ores with oxidic lead ores, i.e. lead sulphate or the products of roasting sulphidic lead ores, in stoichiometric proportions, granulating, and, if desired, sintering, prior to melting in a furnace. The granules may be dried and compacted and melted down in an electric or hearth furnace with or without the addition of a fuel. The waste gases from the furnace may be used for drying or sintering the granules.
