Class 28(2) The rotated abrasive bottom 8 of a potato &c. peeler also rotates 'an upper grater 15 against which vegetables are pressed, e.g. by a wood-pusher 22 in a receiving chamber 23. The grated material passes through the rough-edged perforations 16 of the grater lid 15 into a container 13 with friction feet 14 by which the grating assembly is rotated. The lid 15 has a spindle 22 received in a thrust bearing 21 carried by a diametrical bridge-piece 19 of convex form so that when tensioned by a screw 20 the thrust bearing presses down on the lid 15 &c. to increase the friction of 14 against 8. The peeler comprises a stationary abrasive liner 2 for the metal cylinder 1, being distanced therefrom by wood &c. spacers 2'. A water wheel 4 with cups rotates the bottom 8. Washing water from nozzle 9 is also supplied at 11 above the bottom. A baffle 12 serves to turn over the vegetables during peeling and also to deflect down any stray water from the water wheel. The device may be located behind a sink panel and with top access.
