746,496. Fruit juices extracting by grating &c. SCHREYER, E. P. July 14, 1954 [July 20, 1953; June 3, 1954], Nos. 20127/53 and 16519/54. Class 28(2). Fruit placed in a funnel 25 is pressed by a plunger 27 against a rotated shredding disc 19 which flings the grated pulp out on to a rotated gauze screen 28 which lines a rotated bowl 14, with slits 17, through which the juices from the screen pass to an annular channel 6 and a spout 8 in a fixed bowl 3, the pulp being more evenly spread out on the screen by one or more fixed fins 32 on the outside of the funnel 25 or elsewhere. The screen 28 is held down loosely by a ring 30 secured on the bowl 14 by bayonet joints 31. A lid 12 is fixed on the outer fixed bowl 3 by bayonet joints 13. The device may be rotated by hand or by a motor 2. One side of the slits 17 extends outwardly so that its trailing edge forms a scoop for collecting the juice. The grating disc has radial slots into which saw-like knives are press fitted. In Fig. 2 for oranges &c. there is no funnel, an orange half being hand pressed down on a reamer 36, the pulp being spread over the screen by a fin 40 or by a shaped part on the special opentopped lid 38.
