Abstract

508,933. Extracting juice from lemons &c. MICHELER, M. F. Feb. 10, 1939, Nos. 4484 and 4485. Convention dates, April 1, 1938, and May 14, 1938. [Class 28 (ii)] Fruit-squeezing paratus comprises fruit-receiving part the inner surface which is provided with projections which pierce and abrade the skin and space the skin away from the said inner surface, and a part i which is pressed into the fruit, the expressed juice flowing, at least in part, through the said space in contact with the abraded skin whereby aromatic and .vitamincontaining principles are liberated from the skin and mixed with the juice. The part a is arranged within a juice-collecting bowl b, and is provided with a perforated flange a<1> which is supported 'on the tim of the 'bowl. Internal ribs care provided' with projections d, and the lower part of the part a is provided with holes g and spikes f. In a modification, the two parts a, i are pivoted together and provided with pressing-handles. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the fruit-receiving part a<3> is provided with a juice-collecting space n, and a pouring-lip p. The part i<3> has a flange q which fits over the flange o and is formed with a pouring-lip r. The device may, therefore, be used with the part i<3> lowermost, in which case the juice would not contact with the abraded skin and would not include substances from the skin. The handles k<3>, m<3> and the parts a<3>, i<3> are so formed that the device stands firmly, either way up, on a flat surface.
