Abstract

710,145. Multi-ply bags. MEDWAY PAPER SACKS, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1952 [Dec. 20, 1951], No. 29877/51. Class 94 (2) A multi-ply paper sack having guissetted sides and including at least one ply of union paper, and additional plies of crepe or kraft paper, is characterized in that the union ply is the innermost ply and conisists of two sheets of crepe paper, or one sheet of 'crepe pspar and one sheet of kraft paper, bonded together by bitumen, latex or the like, the additional plies being secured to the union ply adjacent only the top and bottom of the sack, but being otherwise unsecured to each other. Preferably the union ply is so made up that the creping will not run parallel to the gusset fold lines. It is stated that by the use of crepe paper in the union ply there is less tendency during the gusset folding operation for the bitumen &c. to be dispersed from the fold lines, with consequent weakening of the bag. Specification 570,985 is referred to.
