Abstract
Sintered alumina-titania complexes (see Group V) used in thermistors can be surface metallized with copper, silver, precious metals and stainless alloys by metal vapour condensation, cathodic projection or gum spraying.ALSO:A semi-conductive composition consists of a moulded mixture of titania and alumina combined by reduction in pure hydrogen to form a complex having a negative thermal factor. To render parts made therefrom more robust the sintered mixture is impregnated with a resin, e.g. phenol-formaldehyde, nylon, or a silicone, in an amount up to 10 per cent. The formula of titanium compound in the complex varies between TiO1.67 to TiO1.99. and the proportion of alumina in the complex varies between 0.5 and 99 per cent.
