Abstract
An alloy capable of remaining liquid at low temperatures and for use in thermometers and thermostats has a percentage composition within the following range:- .Hg.68.5-74 .Tl.13.1-15.5 .In.14.3-16.7 The alloy is prepared by dissolving In and Tl in Hg, cooling the resultant amalgam to not more than 2 DEG F. above the eutectic temperature (-82 DEG F.) and filtering to remove compositions outside the desired range.
