Abstract
709,598. Skein holders. HARDING, D. M. MACDONALD, A. D., and TAYLOR, J. A. May 30, 1952 [April 23, 1952], No. 10197/52. Class 120(2) [Also in Group XIV] Means, fcr supporting skeins of wool for winding into balls, of the kind comprising a rotatable hub supporting two or more radial arms fitted with hooks or pegs and wherein said arms can be swung from said radial positions and folded towards one another in a compact form is provided with a retaining member or cap which is to be detachably fitted to the free outer ends of the folded together arm whereby the arms can be held substantially parallel to form a pedestal and with a part serving as a base, on which the rotatable hub is mounted. As shown, the device comprises a base block 1 fitted with a spindle 3 around which a hub 2 rotates. The hub 2 has recesses 4 in which arms 5 are hinged each arm 5 being provided with a hook 8 which may be positioned in one of the holes 7. In the collapsed position shown in Fig. 1, a cap 9 is fitted over the upper ends of the arms 5. Said cap may be made in the form of an ashtray 11 or be provided with hooks 13 for the members of a fireside companion set &c. or may be made as any other useful article of furniture. The base 1 may be fitted with a drawer 12.
