Abstract

23,435. Kent, G. G. Oct. 16. Skein-holders and swifts.-Apparatus for holding a hank or skein of wool, cotton, &c. when winding into balls &c. comprises a heavy base-piece a into which is screwed a spindle f. A cross-piece is rotatably mounted on the spindle into square sockets on which the splayed ends of the hollow arms j of the skein-holder are fitted. The hollow arms are in two parts hinged at l and in the outer ends are carried sliding pieces m with hooks n for the skein &c. A clip o for securing to a table &c. and having holes p, q for carrying the spindle f and skein-holder in a vertical or horizontal position is shown in Fig. 4. After removal of the skeinholder, the screwed spindle f and base-piece a may be used for rotatably holding a bobbin of the kind shown in Fig. 6.
