Abstract

889,944. Unwinding thread. REINERS, W. March 17, 1958 [April 3, 1957], No. 8454/58. Addition to 831,952. Class 120(2) The apparatus described and claimed in parent Specification for controlling the unwinding of a thread from a cop at a thread winding station is modified in that means to support a plurality of cops 3 from which thread is unwound in turn, is provided at each station and there is also provided a single thread balloon preventing device 8 comprising one or more members engageable by the thread being unwound from the cops. The device 8 may be a ring with internal protuberances, a flat disc with or without protuberances or a pyramidal shaped member, the internal or external surfaces of which engage the thread. The cops are preferably arranged to be inclined so that their axes meet at a common thread guide 4 and the thread is linked from one cop to another so that unwinding is continuous.
