709,012. Vehicles with endless belt floors; endless conveyers. HEYWOOD, W. J. Feb. 20, 1952 [Feb. 20, 1951], No. 4110/51. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4) The bottom of the tipping load container of a trailer comprises an endless belt conveyer 14 which is driven from the road wheels 11 by a disengageable clutch mechanism (not shown) which also allows the direction of movement of the conveyer to be reversed. A sprocket 22 which is driven by the road wheels through the clutch mechanise is connected by a chain 24 to a sprocket 23 secured to axle 25 of one of the belt-supporting rollers 16, the other end of which axle carries a further sprocket (not shown) which is connected by a chain 27 passing over a jockey sprocket 20 and a sprocket 28 on the front roller 15. The belt is tensioned by adjusting this roller 15. A transverse rollered frame (not shown) running on tracks at the sides of the belt provides a vertical surface against which material can be piled when loading the belt from the rear end of the 'trailer. The load container has an open top, a lattice-work forward end 12a and a double-hinged rear wall 12b. Handles 20, 30 are provided to operate respectively the pump of the tipping run 18 and the clutch mechanism.
