Abstract

708,366. Saw-tooth generating circuits; valve amplifying circuits. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Aug. 5, 1952 [Dec. 3, 1951], No. 28324/51. Class 40 (6) The output transformer of a saw tooth wave amplifier has two tertiary windings connected in series opposition and which respectively apply positive and negative feedback through time constant circuits to correct distortion in the output wave. The correcting networks shown are integrating circuits, that in the positive feedback path having a time constant equal to that of the reflected load resistance of the deflecting coils and primary inductance of the transformer and that in the negative feedback circuit having a time constant equal to that of the deflector coil inductance and resistance including the secondary leakage inductance and loss resistane of the transformer. A primary-tertiary turns ratio of 1:1 may be used and the negative feedback at low frequencies should be equal to the positive feedback to ensure stability. As the negative feedback is such as to increase the output impedance of the amplifier it is unnecessary to add a negative pulse to the input wave during the flyback. The time constant of the primary inductance and effective primary load resistance should be greater than half a period of the wave.
