Abstract
706,143. Tyre valves. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and TREVASKIS, H. W. Oct. 21, 1952 [Nov. 29, 1951], No. 28080/51. Class 135 The connection between the inner tube 3 of a pneumatic tyre and the usual non-return inflating valve 8 is effected by means of resilient sleeve 1 fitted through a hole into the tube 3 and having a flange 2 at one end fluid-tightly secured to the outside of the tube, e.g. by cementing, and a hollow insert 6 which is fluid-tightly fitted in the sleeve and connected through a conduit member 5 with the inflation valve 8. The sleeve 1 and its bore may have parallel sides but preferably they are tapered inwardly away from the flange 2. The sleeve 1 is made of rubber or other resilient air impermeable material. The insert 6 is formed integrally with and at right angles to the conduit member 5. The member 5 is of rectangular section and is slidable in a similarly shaped groove 15 extending from the median plane to one edge of the tyre rim 9. The latter has a fixed flange 10 and a detachable flange 12. A cover plate 16 is arranged between the flange 2 and the conduit member 5. The conduit member may be connected to the inflation valve 8 by a bent metal tube 7 or by rubber tubing or it may be connected directly to the valve 8 by brazing or by a screw thread.
