706,126. Gripper mechanism. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.- GES. June 22, 1951 [June 22, 1950], No. 14933/51. Class 100 (2) In a gripper mechanism of a sheet printing machine comprising grippers carried by a hollow shaft and controlled by a cam-operated lever to feed sheets to the impression cylinder, the hollow shaft contains a coiled torsion spring fixed at one end and acting on a movable part at the other to urge the lever against the cam. As shown the grippers are mounted on a rod 20 carried by two arms 10 secured to a hollow shaft 9 rotatable in bearings 12, 13; a cam disc 1 oscillates the shaft 9 through a roller 2 on a lever 4, 5 pivoted at 3 and carrying a, gear segment 6 meshing with a segment 7 pinned to a stub member 8 pinned to the shaft 9. The end 15 of the spring 16 engages a recess 14 in the stub member 8, and its other end 17 is anchored in a fixed disc 18 carrying a guide rod 19 projecting into the space within the spring.
