706,059. Valves. GASKELL & CHAMBERS, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1952 [Dec. 24, 1951], No. 30147/51. Class 135 A tap providing constant flow in the outlet u comprises a body a with an inlet chamber b communicating with inlet d, and outlet chamber c containing a valve closure member q controlling communication between the chamber and the outlet u, a plunger g in chamber b being spring-urged toward the inlet and having a bore h into which projects a stem k fixed to body partition f and having a tapered part m. The chamber c connects with the outlet via parts p and a chamber o, the member q being spring-urged to close the ports p and being movable to open position by a push-stem s. Thus, when member q is in open position, fluid will flow through bore h and variations in inlet pressure will move the plunger over the part m to maintain the outlet flow substantially constant. Chamber o also communicates with the outlet via opening 2, bore wand port y, to prevent hammer of member q when seating. It is stated that the stem k may be secured to the plunger g and control a bore in a fixed part of the body, and any manual means may be used for actuating the member q.
