Abstract

705,826. Wringers. LOVELL MANUFACTURING CO. Oct. 22, 1952 [Nov. 21, 1951], No. 26501/52. Class 138 (2) A wringer of the toggle release type includes toggle links 9, 11 having a pressure sustaining dead centre position in which the links are held by a latch 15 which is releasable by a vertical slide 16, a pair of release members 6 each having a pivotal crank arm 23, 24 with a slide engaging portion 21, 22 extending in opposite directions from its pivot, a drag link 25 connecting the crank arms, and spring means 29 biasing the slide against the crank arms and yieldably holding the slide in the latching position. The toggle link 11 is pivoted at 12 to a side stile 3 of the machine and at 13 to the reset lever 9. The slide 16 is slidably held against the stile 3 by headed pins 18 passing through slots 19 in the slide. The link 25 has a slot 26 slidably receiving pins 27, 28 on the crank arms 23, 24. The latch 15 co-operates with a latch plate 14 which is integral with the link 11 and has a slot 31 to receive a cam surface 30 on the slide 16. When either.release bar 6 is pushed towards the wringer the end 21 (or 22) of the crank arm 23 (or 24) depresses the slide 16 so that the cam surface 30 forces the toggle linkage past dead-centre position, thereby releasing the roll pressure. Pulling a release bar on either side is equivalent to pushing the bar on the opposite side, lowing to the link 25.
