[Class 138 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a wringer wherein the pressure between the rollers is quickly relieved by a release mechanism, which unlatches the top bar from the side stiles, and is re-applied by a resetting device, the releasing and resetting mechanisms are arranged at opposite ends of the frame and function independently initially. The release mechanism comprises a bifurcated latch 22 pivoted at 24 in the side stile 3 and provided with overhanging noses 25 which engage over projections 26 formed on the pivots of a bifurcated trip member 27 pivoted on and embracing one end of the top bar 14. Bars 34a extend along the front and rear of the frame and are provided with arms 34 by which they are pivoted to the top bar and which engage lugs 33 formed on the trip member. When either bar is depressed, the trip member is rocked against its restoring spring 31 and is released from the latch 22. To prevent undue separation of the rollers, a stirrup member 49 is carried by the top bar and engages beneath the shaft of the upper roller. The stirrup is formed with a nose 52 which engages an aperture in the side stile to limit its upward movement. The resetting device comprises toggle links 37, 39 arranged at the other end of the roller. The links being pivoted together at 40 and to the top bar at 38 and side stile 2 at 41 respectively. The pressure may be adjusted by a handle 21 which rotates a cam between the inside of the top bar and the pressure spring 13.
