[Also in Group XXIX] A copying machine tool, such as a lathe, comprises a headstock 16 and tailstock 20 supporting work 12 between centres, a carriage 28 fed longitudinally by a lead screw 30, a tool slide 32 movable on the carriage and an air-discharge head 44 attached to the slide, the tracer-head being supplied with air through a regulator 48 and orifice 50 and, by the deflections of its feeler in engagement with the pattern 42, varying the escape of air to atmosphere so that the variation of pressure in ,the space 58 of a diaphragm-controlled valve 56 controls the supply of hydraulic fluid to the tool-slide piston 38. The tool slide is at a fixed or adjustable angle to the carriage movement. Specification 660,112 is referred to.
