Abstract

703,084. Clamps, pliers. CAULK. W. T. LOND-. March 14, 1952 [Feb. 5, 1951], No. 2740/51. Class 61 In a toggle clamp or grip ping device comprising a pair of jaw levers pivoted together intermediate their ends and each provided at one end with a pad or the like at least one of the pads being adjustable towards the other by screw means, the jaws are locked in clamping position or released therefrom by the knee action of a pair of toggle links connecting the tails of the levers. As shown, the jaw lever 1 carries a fixed gripping pad 7 and the jaw lever 2 has threaded therethrough a screw 8 carrying a pivoted pad 9. The link 14 of a pair of toggle links 13, 14 connecting the tails of the levers has an abutment 16 which gives the links a knee action at the pivot 17. The link 13 has a finger operable flange 15 for pulling the links out of alignment to release the jaws. A pair of pivoted handles 26, 27 are connected to the common pivots 25 of the jaw levers and toggle links.
