Abstract

702,760. Jet propulsion plant. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd. Jan. 29, 1952 [Feb. 5, 1951], No. 2840/51. Class 110 (3) In a gas turbine jet propulsion engine in which an inner fairing core 15 is supported within the exhaust duct 17 by means of struts 16 enclosed in streamlined section fairings 18, the surface or part of the surface of the fairings forms a heat exchange surface of a fuel vaporizer. Fuel is supplied through ducts 22 to the ring manifold 21 which lies in the annular exhaust gas passage 19, fuel discharge ducts 26 being connected at the junctions of the manifold 21 and ducts 22. A part of the surface of the fairings 18 is removed and replaced by the surfaces 24 of the fuel ducts 22 which are secured to the fairings by welding at 25. Fuel flowing through the ducts 22 is vaporized and is discharged through the ducts 26 which are divergent and have baffle plates 29 at their open ends which cause the vaporized fuel to spread laterally.
