Abstract

836,175. Jet propulsion engines. BOEING AIRPLANE CO. May 29, 1958 [Sept. 3, 1957], No. 17198/58. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXIII] Fig. 5 is a rear perspective view of a silencing nozzle, and Fig. 4 a part view looking downstream. The upstream part of the gas flow duct in the nozzle is defined by a tail cone 8, and annular and radial splitter plates 10, 11. The compartments so formed are faired into individual tubular jet pipes in an outer ring 12a and in an inner ring 12b. An exterior fairing 14 follows the walls of the jet pipes 12a, 12b to form valleys 13 into which ambient air flows promoting mixing with the exhaust gases.
