Abstract
1,183,893. Jet propulsion nozzles. SOC. NATIONALE D'ETUDE ET DE CONSTRUCTION DE MOTEURS D'AVIATION. Jan. 17, 1968 [Jan. 18, 1967], No. 2639/68. Heading F1J. A nozzle defined by a casing 10 and a centrebody 11 is silenced by jets of gas from angularly spaced orifices at points 17, 17a on the surface of the centre-body 11 entering the main gas flow through the nozzle. The silencing jets are supplied from annular manifolds 20, 20a through angularly spaced convergent-divergent pipes 16 within the centre-body 11. The manifolds 20, 20a are themselves fed from a gaseous source through piping 15, 15a, 21 21a and valves 18, or, in a modification Fig. 2 (not shown), by mainstream gas flowing through an opening (22) at the upstream end of the centre-body.
