702,424. Gas meters; valves. VOLKER, U. Dec. 20, 1951 [June 22, 1951], No. 29914/51. Classes 54 and 135 A pressure regulator is housed in a flat hollow body which also serves as a bar for connectiori between the inlet and outlet pipes 34; 35 of a gas meter. The regulator comprises two dished plates 1, 2 with a partition wall 3 inserted between them. The plate 1 carries abutment members 29 which co-operate with wedgeshaped openings in a cover 26 to form a bayonet connection. This cover encloses membrane casings 7, 8 which are assembled with an operating membrane 9, a balancing membrane 10, a valve shaft 11 with a throttle member 12 and a dust filter 13 to form a detachable unit. A screw 31 is tightened and sealed with lead to secure the bayonet connection and to press the casing 8 on to an opening 6 in the plate 1. A tube 32 connects the space between the membranes with the outlet side of the meter. The two lower pipes of the regulators are fitted with screwed union nuts 18, 19 for connection to the pipes of the meter, while the two upper pipes 14, 16 are screwed to receive union nuts on the installation pipes. The membrane unit may be changed to adapt the meter for use on a different pressure range.
