699,807. Generating steam by molten materials. COMPAGNIE DES METAUX D'OVERPELTLOMMEL ET DE CORPHALIE, SOC. ANON. Aug. 15, 1950, No. 20255/50. Class 123 (ii) [Also in Group II] In a process and apparatus for the recovery of heat from a zinc condenser particularly as described in Specifications 594,487 and 667,312, [both in Group II], the upper part of the condenser M consists of a tank D containing molten metal, e.g. lead, in which boiler tubes T are immersed. In the apparatus shown, the tubes T form part of a steam generating circuit which includes a header E through which water is fed to the tubes T by a pump P, the tubes T communicating with a drum F from which steam is withdrawn at Q for distribution to its point of use. Each tube is provided with a valve V. The heat withdrawn from the condenser M may be regulated by controlling through the pump P, the flow of fluid through the tubes T, by controlling the pressure in the drum F or by varying the number of tubes T in use, by operation of the valves V. The tank D is normally provided with a cover (not shown) and with heat insulation (not shown) to minimise heat losses.
