Abstract

699,643. Loading stretchers into vehicles. BENN, R. Oct. 25, 1951. [Jan. 11, 1951] No. 813/51. Class 78 (iv). The loading and unloading of stretchers into ambulance vehicles is facilitated by a platform 1 temporarily attached to the vehicle in continuation of the stretcher supports 6. The device illustrated is generally similar to that of Specification 523,103 (which is referred to) and is supported at the rear of a vehicle by upwardly facing hooks 10 which engage pins 11 on the vehicle and by brackets 14 hinged at 12 to the platform 1 and formed with spigots 15 taking into sockets in the frame 7 of the vehicle. Plates 5 secured to the stretcher supports 6 support the edge of the platform 1 adjacent the vehicle. The platform is formed with three walls 8 and with a wall 3 formed at 2 with gaps permitting the passage of wheels or feet of the stretcher.
