Abstract

421,119. Ambulances. HAVLICEK, J., 7, StÚpanskß, Prague. May 10, 1933, No. 13569. [Class 108 (i)] Resilient supports particularly for use in ambulances comprise a stretcher carrier resiliently mounted on a movable support frame which can be locked in any one of a number of positions relatively to a rigid frame mounted on the vehicle but removable therefrom to enable the vehicle to be used for other purposes. The stretcher carrier 5 is carried by two pins 7 passing into a hollow support 1 and resiliently mounted therein by springs 9 and a plate 15 which is also used to position leaf springs 13 carrying a cap 12 supporting a sliding cover 11 adapted to close the opening 8 through which the pins 7 pass. The supports 1 are mounted on central uprights 20, 21 by means of brackets 3, lugs on which and on the supports 1 interengage by means of pegs 2, the supports being movable into any one of three positions and locked, therein by means of the square lug 16 co-operating with the bracket 3. The uprights 20, 21 are secured to the vehicle floor by bolts and stiffeners 22 so that they may be removed from the vehicle entirely or the rear one moved up close to the front one when not required. Rods 29, 30 are provided for supporting a cover. Fig. 7 shows a modification adapted for mounting on the sides of an open wagon. The stretcher carrier 35 is lengthened and is supported by means of springs in side supports 34 connected by girders 33 having brackets 36 which are adapted to rest on and be locked to the sides 32 of the wagon. The girders 33 are provided with dependent bars 41 supporting rails 42 upon which stretcher carriers 42, 44 are guided. The carriers are provided with lateral pins 45 adapted to be engaged by catches 46 secured to the stretcher carriers 35 for locking the stretchers and preventing them from becoming dislodged during transport.
