Abstract

278,830. Stockall, F. J. July 31, 1926. Ambulances. - In ambulances of the kind in which pivoted standards carry a stretcher-supporting platform or rails, which may be lowered to be loaded, and transverse bearers pivoted to the standards are adapted to be turned up against the side of the ambulance, the transverse bearers are, at their pivoted ends, adapted to abut against the standards when turned into normal position in such a manner that the whole weight carried by the bearers is adequately supported by the standards. The bearers 9 of the shape shown are pivoted at 9<a> to the standards 8 pivoted to the frame of the ambulance. The rails 11 are secured to pivoted plates 10 on the bearers 9 and a stretcher 12 is shown in position. The bearers and platform when not in use may be turned up and secured by a clip 13 as shown. Springs 15 or quadrant guides may be provided for the standards 8.
