Abstract
792,098. Transferring freight containers to and from vehicles. EDWARDS, E. K. Dec. 20, 1955 [Jan. 9, 1954], No. 671/54. Class 78 (4). A wheeled flat or container 10, Fig. 3, transferred between a vehicle and the fixed ramps 1 shown in Fig. 1, by movement of the vehicle, is coupled to the vehicle by tongues 25 on the container which extend through brackets on the head-board 27 of the vehicle to be secured by pins passing through holes in the tongues. As illustrated the container 10 rests on a subframe 12, 13 secured to the vehicle chassis 4, and its rollers 16 ... 19 run in channels forming the ramps 1. The ramps 1 are carried by stanchions 3 secured to pedestals 6 secured by rag bolts 8 passing through slots in the pedestals which permit the distance between the ramps 1 to be adjusted to suit different containers. The rollers 16 ... 19, Fig. 3, on the container 10 form a line sloping upwardly to the rear.
