Abstract
698,694. Attaching handles &c. to pottery articles. STRASSER, H. Dec. 21. 1951 [Jan. 4, 1951; Aug. 9, 1951], Nos. 298/51 and 18735/51. Class 87(i) In a machine for attaching handles' &c. to cups &c. which, as described in Specification 595,520, comprises arms 45, 17 carrying, respectively, chucks 38 for the cups and cradles 56, 57 for the handles, the arms being continuously rotated in unison by a vertical shaft 11, . each cradle consists of a fixed part 56, and a hinged part 57 within. which a r e housed resilient blocks 56a, 57a, the latter being recessed at 57b to receive a handle. The part 57 is provided with extensions 60, 63 which engage striker members so as to close and open the cradle, and springs 57c, 56c are provided to hold the part 57 closed and open respectively. The cradle arms 17 are raised by a fixed cam 52 engaging rollers 57 on depending arms 50, and by a pneumatic tyred wheel 34. Each chuck 38 is mounted for adjustment on an arm 45 by means of a screwed stem 38a engaging a split bracKet 36 having a locking screw 39. The bracket 36 fits in an inverted' channel member 37, pivoted at 44 to the arm 45, and can be swivelled therein by a hand wheel 46. The channel member 37 is adjustable on the arm 45 by nuts 48, 35. Slip is applied to the cup for the securement of the handle by a pad pivoted on a bracket mounted on the bracket 36 and cooperating with rollers 71, 72 (not shown) associated with a tank 70 (not shown).
