Abstract
725,309. Hinges. McARD & CO., Ltd., R., and BRADDOCK, H. Oct. 15, 1953 [Feb. 13, 1953], No. 4119/53. Class 65 (2). A closet seat P is pivotally mounted on a tube O and is located axially thereof, while the tube is pivotally supported by a pair of aligned spigots N each of which is carried by a pillar A adapted to be secured to the closet. The seat is located by distance sleeves Q interposed between the seat and shoulders M formed at the bases of the respective spigots. A screw-threaded stem B of each pillar passes through the rim D of the closet. A polythene washer F, backed by a metal washer G, is interposed between the upper surface of the rim and a shoulder H at the base of the stem ; and a leather washer K, backed by a metal washer L, is interposed between the lower surface of the rim and a nut E threaded on the stem. The spigots may be offset from the axes of the stems. A seat cover R, if provided, is pivotally mounted on the tube between a pair of lugs provided on the seat. In a modification the tube is replaced by a hollowended rod.
