698,410. Endless conveyers. G. W. B. FURNACES, Ltd. Nov. 7,1950. [Nov. 7, 1949] No. 28512/49. Class 78 (i). An endless conveyer belt is provided with readily removable side plates which are pressed resiliently against the edges of the belt. The figures show the application to a conveyer for removing nuts or bolts from a quench tank wherein the belt is supported between endless chains 2 provided with rollers 6 running on tracks 3. The belt of woven wire mesh is supported at intervals by channel members 17 extending the full width of the belt and which are secured by bolts to pins 18 extending about halfway across the belt and which engage in the pins 5 of the chains 2. Plates 20 are secured at each side of the belt to prevent articles falling off, each plate having pairs of holes engaging over pins 21 on the members 17 and being held resiliently against the edge of the belt by a collar 24 slidable on a pin 18 and engaged by a spring 26 bearing against a washer 27 held in position by a pin 28 extending transversely through the pin 18. The chains 2 and their tracks 3 are protected by guards 33 to which are attached guide strips 34 bearing lightly against the plates 20. The conveyer framework 30 is provided with rollers 32 which engage channel guides 31 on the quench tank. Cross flights 19 are provided on the belt.
