698,139. Pouring stoppers. M. & E. PROJECTS, Ltd. July 4, 1952 [July 9, 1951], No. 16280/51. Class 125(iii) A combined seal and pouring device for a bottle for use with a screw cap 6 comprises a disc 1 with a bulbous protuberance 2 having a neck 3 to engage with the rim 4 of the bottle and an axial hole 5, pressure of the screw cap closing the orifice by inward displacement of the stopper material. The seal is of rubber or a plastic and the upper surface 7 is of frusto-conical shape to aid displacement. In a modification the orifice is closed by a central protuberance on the screw cap. In a further modification the device has a short upstanding neck surrounding the pouring hole 5 which neck projects through a hole in the closure cap, the act of tightening the cap causing compression of the device inwardly to close hole 5.
