Abstract
697,219. Magnetic compositions. STEATITE RESEARCH CORPORATION. March 25, 1952 [Oct. 30, 1951], No. 7662/52. Drawings to Specifications. Class 38 (ii). A magnetic ferrite material suitable for use in computer circuits in that it has a substantially rectangular hysteresis loop, the ratio of remanence to saturation flux density being not less than 0.8, is made from 10-30 per cent of MgO, 5-40 per cent of MnO 2 , 50-70 per cent of Fe 2 O a , and up to 5 per cent each of MgF 2 and of the oxide of another heavy metal such as Zn, Nc, and Cu, and up to 4 per cent of a fluxing oxide such as silica, alumina, titania, or calcium oxide the percentages being by weight. The selected weights of the above materials are ground and mixed, a small amount of binder such as methyl cellulose and water may be added, and after being shaped by pressing or extruding the composition is fired in air at 2200-2400‹ F.
